IPM101, first post
I'm not entirely sure what is going on, I know I have about 50 hours of work to do and about 10 websites and extensions to do it on, it's a little overwhelming at first but I guess that is to be expected as I have never studied a course that is entirely online before.

What is a project?
- Projects are novel, they are not operations
- It has a definite scope, both in objectives and resources required
- It requires the balancing of time taken, cost, and quality of result
- Projects have an environment they exist within, including cultural, social, international, political, and physical aspects
What do project managers do?
- Communicate with everyone (90% of time), so need a communication plan
- Keep tabs on tasks and their progress, along with the people working on them
- Influence, what control mechanisms are operating on the project? As in company policies, culture, local laws
- Motivation, constant process using team building techniques, recognition and rewards (considering individual preferences)
- Negotiate with stakeholders, vendors, and customers
- Problem solving, identifying viable solutions, deciding what solutions to implement
Time, cost, scope; the three corners of the triple constraint triangle. We can accept changes, constrain changes, and attempt to create positive change (enhance) each dimension.
